Youth Literary Event Thursdays at Seattle Library

The national literary arts organization Youth Speaks, in partnership with The Seattle Public Library, will host weekly writing circles for writers ages 13 to 21 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays at The Seattle Public Library, Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Teen Center, Level 3.
The next writing circle is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 7. The program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage at the regular rate.
Writing circles are informal, drop-in writing sessions appropriate for all levels of writing and performance experience. The sessions are led by professional poets Roberto Ascalon, Karen Finneyfrock, and Matt Gano, as well as local young writers.
Ascalon lives in West Seattle and previously taught at Nova High School. He currently works as a teaching artist and mentor for Arts Corp. Finneyfrock, a writer and teaching artist who also lives in West Seattle, has toured nationally as a Spoken Word Artist. Gano is a Capitol Hill resident and works as a teaching artist with arts organizations such as Seattle Arts and Lectures.
Founded in 1996, Youth Speaks is a nonprofit presenter of Spoken Word performance, education and youth development programs throughout the United States.
