The Genealogical Forum of Oregon announces a free online presentation, Explorations in Mexican Genealogy, on Saturday, September 19 at 2 p.m.

The event features historian and lecturer John P. Schmal for this program postponed last spring by the pandemic. The event will now take place online via Zoom. The event is free to the public, but advanced registration is required: https://gfo.org/learn/gen-talks.html. Attendance is limited to 100 participants.

Schmal is the coauthor of Mexican-American Genealogical Research: Following the Paper Trail to Mexico and a board member of the Society of Hispanic Historical and Ancestral Research.

The GFO offers 17 genealogy special interest groups, including a Mexican Ancestry group. All now meet online and are free and open to the public. For future events, check gfo.org/calendar.

The Genealogical Forum of Oregon is an all-volunteer nonprofit founded in 1946 which exists to promote, preserve and publish genealogical history. The GFO operates the largest genealogy library in the Pacific Northwest and offers more than 150 classes each year.
