Abdullah, Hot Ovations Win Business Award

VANCOUVER, Wash.—Shareefah Abdullah, founder and president of the Vancouver-based Hot Ovations Communications Coaching & Training Co., has won a coveted Bronze Beacon award from the Oregon Columbia International Association of Business Communicators.
The annual award, which recognizes communication excellence among select public relations, marketing and program-management categories, provides prominent kudos from industry peers.
Abdullah and Hot Ovations client Oregon School Boards Association jointly won the award for their "Special Projects for External Communications" entry, Tangible Triumph, a campaign aimed to help school boards, superintendents, principles and teachers gain greater community support for students. The project included portable multimedia workshops, Web-based downloadable tool kits, a magazine and an instructive board game.
Such recognition marks the fourth award Abdullah and Hot Ovations have won since the company's January 2005 debut. The business in December 2005 won a Best-in-County award from the Clark County Chamber of Commerce, and Abdullah has been named to the Portland Business Journal's Forty Under 40 class of 2006 and the Vancouver Business Journal's Accomplished & Under 40 class of 2005, recognizing entrepreneurs and other professionals for business and civic achievement.
